Questions
What is a Capital Campaign?
A church project that seeks pledged donations from members of the congregation to be used in paying for a major construction project; in our case, retiring the debt on the construction from Phase I.
Why a Capital Campaign?
Our general church budget is not prepared to handle the principle and interest for a construction loan. We anticipated early on in our process that this would be a multi-phase approach to the vision.
What target amount is set for this Capital Campaign?
Our Church Council authorized up to $900,000, yet we have set a goal of $800,000 to handle the anticipated debt and the accumulated interest over a three-year period. Any more than this will be considered a challenge goal to fund future improvements in Phase II.
Will I be pressured to make a pledge?
No. Participation in the campaign and how much you give will be entirely up to you. All members and guests will be given the opportunity to contribute if they wish to do so.
How may I prepare to participate?
Allow God to speak to your heart through prayer. Read Scripture passages that speak about stewardship and giving, such as 1 Corinthians 16:2, Proverbs 11:25, Proverbs 3:5-9, 2 Corinthians 8:7, Acts 20:35, Luke 6:38, and Psalm 116:12.
If I can't give a large amount, does my pledge really matter?
Absolutely! All pledges matter, regardless of amount, because as we all participate according to our ability, God multiplies our giving. It is therefore important for as many pledges to be made as possible so we all share in the goal to Own the Vision.
What forms of contributions will be accepted?
Contributions can be made by cash, check or electronic monthly drafts. Other forms of contributions can include the transference of title to marketable stocks, bonds, real estate, etc. The church will have professionals to assist with this giving.
